Most exciting to me is Dubrovnik, a comparatively small Croatian city on the Dalmatian coast -- a gateway to the Adriatic dominated by old world Roman influenced and forced architecture, ancient walls, and more cafes/bars than can be counted. Having visited this particular city several times in my life (being Croatian and an alcoholic who relishes in sea breezes, sunshine, and bourbon on rocks made the trips a necessity), the first thing I wanted to do was walk the wall drunk, yet I found myself having to kill an inordinate amount of supposed bad guys. But we're in Croatia! How can anyone living here or even simply visiting be evil? This country's workforce gleefully spends its days watching football and its nights downing cheap premium loza and expensive imported American beers, like the foulest dredge Anheuser-Busch and Miller bottling companies can concoct. There's no time for killing in Croatia. There's only sleep and giant millipedes. Man, that means this game isn't real at all! But it does look and sound real. If ever there were a more satisfying noise than that of a suppressed P90 laying lead into another man's skull, I have not heard it. Yes, I too would have liked a greater emphasis on locational authenticity (more laziness, alcohol and the near third world ignorance I associate with the homeland), but thump, thump, thump is definitely way more fun.
